Blackjack Rules and Table Conditions

Every live blackjack table whose rules we could read pays 3:2 on a blackjack, and all but one have the dealer standing on soft 17. That covers eight Loto-Québec tables, three PlayNow tables and BetMGM’s Unlimited Blackjack in Ontario. The exception is BetMGM’s live American Blackjack, which pays 3:2 but has the dealer hit soft 17. We found no 6:5 table in any rules document. The table at the end of this page lists 19 live tables with payout, soft-17 rule, decks and the limits each casino shows, checked on October 19 and 20, 2026.

What this section covers, and why

Blackjack’s basic rules are the same at every table: get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. What changes the price of a hand is the table’s rule set: how much a blackjack pays, whether the dealer hits or stands on soft 17, how many decks are used, and what you can do after a split. Those rules sit in a rules document or help page, not in the table’s name, and two tables called “Speed Blackjack” at different casinos do not have to share them. This section compares real tables by their published rules and shows the arithmetic where it matters.

Which live tables pay 3:2 with the dealer standing on soft 17?

Loto-Québec (lotoquebec.com). Its standard Blackjack rules: 8 decks, dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3:2, insurance 2:1, double on any two initial cards, no double after split, one split per hand, one card to each split ace. Tables under these rules include Blackjack C (EN) at $10 to $5,000, Blackjack Silver A at $50 to $10,000 and Blackjack Diamond VIP at $1,000 to $10,000. Infinite, Free Bet, Power, Lightning and Speed Blackjack also stand on soft 17 and pay 3:2.

PlayNow.com (BCLC). Live Blackjack, Live Infinite Blackjack and Live Speed Blackjack all use 8 decks, stand on soft 17 and pay 3:2. Only the Infinite Blackjack document gives a limit, $1 to 2,000, and it is dated October 16, 2019.

BetMGM (Ontario). Unlimited Blackjack uses 8 decks, stands on soft 17 and pays 3:2, but the whole bet is lost against a dealer blackjack and there is no late surrender. American Blackjack also pays 3:2 with 8 decks, but the dealer hits soft 17. It allows doubling on any two cards and after a split, and has seven seats.

Is live blackjack at JeetCity or Spinrise 3:2 or 6:5?

We could not confirm it. JeetCity’s Canadian live lobby lists tables such as ONE Blackjack, Speed Blackjack and VIP Blackjack, with Pragmatic Play Live among its providers. Spinrise lists ONE Blackjack 1 and 2, Speed Blackjack, VIP Blackjack, Oasis Blackjack and BlackjackX 30. On both sites the rules and limits open only inside the game, after login or sign-up, and we did not create accounts. Their rows in our table therefore say Not confirmed for payout, soft-17 rule, decks and limits.

Once a table is open, look for the payout on the felt or in the rules panel, written as “Blackjack pays 3 to 2” or “6 to 5”. The same panel should list the soft-17 rule and the number of decks, and the limits appear on the table tile or in the bet panel.

What do 3:2 and 6:5 cost in numbers?

On a $10 bet, a blackjack at 3:2 pays $15; at 6:5 it pays $12. With eight decks, the chance of being dealt a blackjack is close to 2 × (32/416) × (128/415), about 4.7% of hands. Losing $3 on 4.7% of $10 hands costs about 14 cents per hand, or roughly 1.4% of every bet, before any other rule is counted. That is larger than the gap between most rule sets in our table.

The casinos’ own figures show the smaller differences. Loto-Québec gives an optimal theoretical payout of 99.29% for standard Blackjack, 99.28% for Speed Blackjack, 99.47% for Infinite Blackjack and 99.56% for Lightning Blackjack, but 98.80% for Power Blackjack (9s and 10s removed from the shoe) and 98.45% for Free Bet Blackjack. PlayNow gives 99.28% for Live Blackjack and Speed Blackjack and 99.51% for Infinite Blackjack.

What the table shows

1. 3:2 everywhere we could read. All 13 rows with published rules pay 3:2. Lightning Blackjack pays 3:2 and up to 25:1 with multipliers.
2. One table hits soft 17. BetMGM’s American Blackjack is the only table in our set where the dealer hits soft 17.
3. Side rules differ more than the headline rules. Infinite Blackjack at Loto-Québec has no dealer peek for blackjack and uses a Six Card Charlie rule; BetMGM’s Unlimited Blackjack takes the whole bet on a dealer blackjack.
4. Limits run from $1 to $10,000. The lowest minimum we found is $1 on Loto-Québec’s Infinite, Infinite Free Bet, Power and Lightning Blackjack; the highest maximum is $10,000. 888casino (Ontario) shows public minimums of $2 on Vegas All Bets Blackjack Live and $50 on Sports Blackjack 1.

The guides in this section

• How to play casino blackjack. Card values, the six player actions, how each bet settles, what the soft-17 rule means, and the arithmetic of insurance at 2:1.
• Blackjack basic strategy. Why a strategy chart fits only one rule set, and how the soft-17 rule, doubling after a split, the dealer’s check for blackjack and Free Bet or Power rules change it.

How we checked

We read the rules documents Loto-Québec and PlayNow link from each table, the live dealer help pages at BetMGM (Ontario), and the public live lobbies at 888casino (Ontario), JeetCity and Spinrise. Loto-Québec, PlayNow and BetMGM pages were read on October 19, 2026, 888casino from an Ontario connection on October 20, and JeetCity and Spinrise from a Quebec connection. Limits are those displayed on the table page or in the rules document, in Canadian dollars. Anything shown only after login is marked Not confirmed. The date in each row shows when it was last checked.

What we could not confirm

• Payout, soft-17 rule, decks and limits at JeetCity and Spinrise: shown only after login.
• Limits at BetMGM (Ontario) and at PlayNow’s Live Blackjack and Speed Blackjack.
• Payout and rules at 888casino’s Sports Blackjack 1 and Vegas All Bets Blackjack Live: only the minimums are public.

Check a table before you sit down

Open the table’s rules or help panel and find four lines: the blackjack payout, what the dealer does on soft 17, the number of decks, and the split and double rules. If the felt says 6 to 5, the calculation above shows what that costs, so compare it with a 3:2 table before you play.
